Professional Statement of Experience and Leadership

I bring nine years of dedicated service to the City of Miami Fire Rescue, offering a wealth of experience and a history of overcoming significant challenges. In 2017, I faced an unjust termination, but through three separate arbitration processes, I successfully demonstrated that the punishment did not fit the offense. As a result, I secured full back pay with seniority, overtime compensation, and tuition reimbursement for courses I completed during my termination. The unanimous decisions reached by four arbitrators and the city’s willingness to settle with me prior to the most recent arbitration decision affirm that justice was served. 

In my ongoing pursuit of fairness, I currently have one pending arbitration related to my promotional exam. I eagerly await the outcome of this proceeding and will readily share the results with our members. 

Since my reinstatement, I have been actively involved in our union, dedicating my available time to volunteering and actively participating in various union activities. This involvement includes attending the Florida Professional Firefighters convention and local educational courses, among other engagements. 

I have recently taken on the role of Chair for the Bylaw and Amendment Change Committee. In this capacity, my goal is to address several bylaws that our members have expressed a desire to modify through established procedures, such as voting procedures and election eligibility.

Drawing from my experiences, I firmly believe that my extensive background can greatly benefit our union. I have consistently maintained a humble and professional approach throughout my journey, seeking resolution through diplomatic means. It is only when confronted with irrational behavior and the need to address exploitation that I have taken a stand. We need a leader who embodies professionalism, upholds a strong moral compass, and displays unwavering tenacity when faced with adversity.
